Description

I had this assignment to do for an online certification for photography in this one the job was to recolor the black and white image.
Now I think they went way to far and overboard with their coloring (it's the one in the middle)
So I decided to not make mine look so ridiculous, and went much softer on my colors, which in my opinion looks way better and
way more realistic. I really can't believe they put this as their example because it looks pretty bad I mean she has green hair for shits sake and they even left
a white gap in the background. C'mon Man!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to be brutally honest (be warned, this is a criticism), the second one is over coloured but the third is not coloured enough.  While the second image is ridiculously orange and green, far too saturated and harsh, the third needs a little more colour because it looks like what happened after Ted Turner decided to add colour to black and white movies back in the day.  You can still tell it was once a black and white image.  The variation in tone in the third is nice, you can see hints of faint pink at the high points of the woman's face but gray still seems to shine through in areas it shouldn't, such as around their hairlines (this could be fixed with a slightly yellow or pinkish hue, depending on the effect you want).  The second image looks like they just used the Multiply tool with just 3 colours and became over zealous with the contrast bar.  I applaud the softness of your image and the variation of tone/color you used but the hair lines and brighter areas should not show the former grays like that.
